Call In A Prescription For Patients
As a medical assistant you will more often than not call in prescriptions for patients. It is actually a very easy thing to do. When you have the correct pharmacy call them. You’ll be given the automated system and have to push a number for doctors or doctors’ offices. Then you’ll be given the choice to leave a voicemail or talk to a pharmacy representative. Although the voicemail is checked every hour on the hour I prefer to talk to a human. So you fist say, this is (your name) with Dr. xxx’s office calling in prescription/refill. Give the patient’s name, date of birth, name of drug and drug strength, amount to be taken and how often, and amount of refills. They’ll ask for your name and you can get their name. Not much to it.
